Dealing with an aggressive group in the PPDT

Withdrawing from the discussion ruins your chances. Here is how to hold your ground in an aggressive PPDT group — without becoming aggressive yourself.

A few candidates withdraw themselves during the discussion owing to the dominating nature of other candidates. This will ruin their chances of getting screened in.

Half the work is already done

If you have written a good story and narrated it with clarity and confidence, you are half way through. You must still show competence in the group discussion — whatever the nature of your group is.

Speak even when others shout

If the other candidates are shouting, you can politely ask them to calm down and speak one by one. If they still do not listen, look for pauses in the discussion to quickly convey your ideas.

Be the moderator who builds consensus

Being a good moderator and directing the group towards consensus will enhance your chances of getting screened in.
